“Money can’t buy me love. It’s true. The point is this, I want happiness.” – John Lennon at the height of his success with the Beatles
There is no amount of money, fame, or power that can satisfy our quest for happiness. No matter how hard we try, we continue to search for happiness in the wrong places. Deep down we know this is true. So how do we find the happiness we all long for?
Think about all the happy people you know. What do they have in common? All truly happy people have a sense of peace. Happy people are at peace with themselves, with others. They are not living angry, hostile or bitter lives. The good news for us is that we too can experience peace.
The Bible says true happiness can only be reached when we have peace with God. So how do we find peace with God? Jesus came that we may have life – but he doesn’t stop there. He came that we could have life abundantly. This is the true happiness we all long for!
When Jesus laid down his life at the cross, he took on all our sin making us right with God. He gave us a new life, an abundant life. A life transformed by the power of his love and grace. When we really understand what Christ has done for us on the cross, inviting us to a life of peace with God – happiness will result!
If this is a happiness that you have not experienced, start today. Stop looking for happiness and turning up empty. Accept Christ’s gift of true and lasting peace for all eternity.
